Touring Superleggera at Retromobile 2025
At the prestigious Salon Rétromobile 2025 event in Paris, Touring Superleggera captivated attendees with a masterful blend of heritage and design, showcasing two of its most distinguished creations: the meticulously restored 1959 Maserati 3500 GT and the contemporary Superleggera Veloce12, resplendent in the newly introduced Azzurro Cielo finish.
A Triumph of Restoration: The 1959 Maserati 3500 GT
The 1959 Maserati 3500 GT holds a storied past, having been originally delivered to Allinger Motors in Palo Alto, California, and subsequently owned by Horace Elgin Dodge III of the illustrious Dodge automotive family. Over the years, this grand tourer changed hands among various collectors before arriving at Touring Superleggera’s workshop for a comprehensive restoration.
The restoration process was nothing short of exhaustive. Touring Superleggera’s artisans collaborated with Candini Classiche to meticulously overhaul the engine and mechanical components, ensuring authenticity and precision. Every facet of the vehicle was addressed, from sourcing original parts to applying period-correct finishes. The culmination of these efforts was recognized with the prestigious Maserati Classiche Certification, affirming the car’s restored authenticity.
The restored 3500 GT made its debut at Rétromobile 2025, where it was displayed alongside an unrestored 1961 barn-find example. This “before and after” view offered visitors a tangible narrative of transformation, highlighting the journey from untouched relic to restored masterpiece.
The Superleggera Veloce12 in Azzurro Cielo
Complementing the classic allure of the Maserati 3500GT was the Superleggera Veloce12, unveiled in a captivating Azzurro Cielo hue. This finish draws inspiration from iconic Touring designs of the past, notably the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Lungo, and embodies elegance and driving pleasure. The development of this unique finish required over 600 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, underscoring Touring’s commitment to excellence.
Beneath its refined exterior, the Superleggera Veloce12 houses a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V12 engine, delivering 503 horsepower. This limited-edition grand tourer, with only 30 units planned, offers a driving experience that honors the “man-machine” connection, free from electronic interference.
