A dramatic open-topped sports car

The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder is a dramatic two-seater open top car, coach built to order, in a limited run restricted to a maximum of seven units.

Inspired by a design icon

At the dawn of the space race, with increased reported sightings of flying saucers, as long ago as 1952 Touring stunned the world with its Alfa Romeo C52, whose incredible aerodynamic profiles immediately gained it the Disco Volante moniker (flying saucer in Italian). This revolutionary design was so advanced that it influenced many celebrated sports and racing cars for decades to come. It is the clear inspiration for, and direct ancestor of today’s Disco Volante.

Power and elegance

Endorsed by Alfa Romeo, whose badge it proudly wears, it is based on the rolling chassis and drivetrain of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spyder.

Twin personality

Superleggera means super lightweight in English, so removing weight was a major objective in the roof design. An innovative twin panel carbon fibre roof gives the car all the protection of a true coupé. When fitted, it converts the Disco Volante Spyder into a comfortable, fully insulated fixed-head sports car.

Pure and timeless emotion

From the top of the frameless windscreen, through the side glasses to the double rear fairings, the whole car is encircled with a taut, dynamic line.

Comfort and ride quality

As mind-blowing in design as its ancestor, the Disco Volante Spyder pushes the envelope of roofless motoring, whilst delivering an unexpected degree of comfort and ride quality. It is a bold interpretation of the open top car, fully devoted to the pleasure of riding with wind tousling one’s hair.

Discover Bespoke

The search for perfect execution

Touring Superleggera is synonymous with the manufacture of lightweight bodywork. Nowadays, the art of hand-beaten aluminium panels is extensively combined with the use of carbon fibre, as this technology achieves the high level of quality Touring requires, while providing significant weight advantages.

Discover Coachbuilding

New techniques

The single-piece windscreen frame and the cross roll-bar member are made from structural carbon fibre giving crucial torsional stiffness advantages and saving weight in the upper section of the car, where it is most beneficial for performance.

Testing the masterpiece

Functional tests are conducted in a climatic chamber. Dynamic tests for air and water tightness, road noise, wet and dry handling, driveability, braking, NVH and all performance aspects are carried out on track. Tests are also carried out for maximum speed and rough surface behaviour.
